So, here it is two days later and I am walking home from the V. Starr swimming pool and what do I see? Another Praying Mantis!!! This one didn't make it and had been flattened by a car. I'm sure it couldn't be the same one I rescued Tuesday because that one was half a mile from where I found this one! But then, what do I know.

ReplyDeleteWe had a praying mantis visit our Morrow Street house a few years back. I, too, had never seen one in the wild before. It was quite exciting... and there was a headless spider right next to it so I suspect I interrupted its breakfast. Fun.

Here in the Central Valley we see them all the time but only at this time of year when they've gotten big and are ready to lay eggs. Ain't nature fun?
