Odds and Ends

If I did it, here's the place!

Bumfuzzle, one of the online stories I read that I can't wait to hear more of.

My son's photo album/slideshow of the airplane he is building. You will see me helping in a few of the photos.

I'm currently at a crossroads with this blog and have sort of lost direction. A low if you will. Maybe it is the oncoming winter time blahs. Maybe it's a post high Sierra.
What-ever, stay tuned and watch me fumble around.

Wednesday Observations

I happened upon, and outlined, this "Oddity" when I was painting the chalk line for First Friday; a concrete patch in the shape of a heart outside the Company Store. I "documented" it this morning.

I see another section of the Coastal Trail is coming to fruition. This section connects the south end of Highway One Noyo Bridge with the Noyo Bluff's trail.

The Town Hall exterior refurbishing is coming to an end. I count four different colors tastefully selected. Nice!

And then there is always the evidence of the angst and homeless outside Headland's Coffee House.

Deviating

There is this guy in town who walks the same route every morning. Two miles round trip. Everyday. I walk all over the place and seldom do the same route twice. But every now and then I happen to be walking along and spot him so I will turn around and walk his route with him.

He is a guy who never looks around, he just watches where he walks and he keeps finding pocket change!! I always "walk and gawk" looking for things to photograph. I never find a dime!

In the year and a half I have known him I have talked him into deviating from his route only once; I talked him into walking out Oak Street with me to see the old KDAC AM radio station. He was surprised and impressed; he has lived in Fort Bragg thirty years and had never seen it.

Last week I happened to end up walking with him and I mentioned I was going to fly my radio controlled Piper Cub at the Fort Bragg Fog Buster's flying field this weekend. He said, "Give me a call, I'd like to come out and watch".

I called him Saturday and left a message; "Be at my place at 8:30 AM".

I waited Sunday morning until 8:30 and then left for the flying field. He was a no show.

Today I asked him why he didn't show up? He said he has to have his breakfast and read the paper. He can't change his routine.

I too like routine and I'm afraid, more so the older I get.

Maybe I should get a tattoo. Never had one.

Weekend ramblin'

The surf was up this weekend. Really up!

Lots of moisture in the air.

Fall is here but my favorite rose on Pine Street keeps carrying on!

I happened to get measured this weekend, one inch at a time!!

I mentioned earlier the totally refurbished Fort Bragg Bakery is open. I want to also point out the new cafe on Franklin street is open the "Franklin St Cafe'".

First Friday!

Yup! Time to mark up the sidewalks for First' Friday's Art Walk. Sarah puts down the words....

I get to do the line!

The, chalk based, line leads folks to the many participating stores staying open late tonight displaying art and or, music.

There is something of interest just beyond each door!!
Check it out!

Ketchup

A lot has happened during the two months I have been out and about. For instance, the railroad crossing at Fir Street is finally being completely redone. It was "pot hole city" for a long time.

Town Hall is getting a much needed face lift.

The raunchy public toilet at Bainbridge Park is getting replaced.

With this, a new facility that will service both Bainbridge Park and the Wiggly Giggly children's playground/tennis court with separate facilities and entrances.

New reader boards have been installed at Franklin and Laurel and also at Franklin and Alder.

Wooden benches have been made and installed at various locations around the downtown redevelopment area.

All in all, very nice but couldn't someone have loaned the installer a level?!

Okay, let's wrap this up!

I had a family reunion to attend September 26th so it was time for some driving. 1,108 miles from Panamint Valley to Seattle.

We had a great reunion and other family gatherings and then I set off on my last adventure.

On a ferry boat. I wanted to do some kayaking in the San Juans.

Loading my kayak.

Setting off.

Chickened out! The wind picked up to the point of rolling whitecaps. I cancelled my overnight adventure.

High Sierra? YES! Telescope Peak? YES! Kayaking in the San Juan? Failed.

But two out of three ain't bad! :-)

Tomorrow? Walking Fort Bragg.
