Early Sunday Morning.

I love having sunlight during my early morning walk.

It has just cleared the coastal hills.

Yippee!

You can see the three most recent tanks added to the Brewery; the three taller ones.

And the finishing touches to some former GP building on the Mill Site.

A few of the hundreds of boats that have been out catching Salmon.

All in all, a very nice morning for taking photos.

Fort Bragg Crack Gardens.

I was inspired by Kate's recent post "Going Postal" on her, "It Happened at Purity" blog where she mentioned the "gardens" growing in the sidewalk cracks.  So, for this mornings walk I decided to look for and photograph "Crack Gardens".

Here's some that caught my eye:

I return home and discover Kate did the same thing but wrote a much better story about them

Cool!

Ms. Scruffy.

There is a female Raven in our neighborhood who we noticed was in trouble.  For some reason her primary flight feathers are damage.

She is unable to fly but can hop and flap about six feet.  Her main method of getting around is walking the wires; phone lines, cable lines, power lines.

When the wind is blowing it is quite a trick yet I have never seen her lose her grip!

It is quite obvious why we call her Ms. Scruffy.

We started out feeding her puppy chow last November but soon found out it is much better to feed her protein, the best being scrambled eggs.  By now, she knows where to get scrambled eggs and she shows up most morning and waits for us to bring some out!

She is very entertaining and we hope to get her through the three month summer molt season and hopefully she will grow some new primary feathers.  We'll see.

I've been meaning to mention the SOB's!!

I've been bicycle riding the Haul Road for a couple of years and during that time I met a couple of guys, also retired, who were out riding.  We stopped and talked several times and finally decided to meet at the Skunk Train parking lot at 10:00 each morning and go for a ride. In very short order the SOB's were formed!

And, of course, we decided we needed Jerseys

Over time more and more guys have joined and now we have an unofficial roster of about a dozen!

Hardly ever do we have a full complement at once but here's eight!!

We stop for coffee and a cookie at the end of our ride to replenish lost caffeine and calories!

When we do longer rides we bring along "snackage".

We try to do a longer ride once a week, usually Fridays.  Our "basic ride" is out the Haul Road to it's end just North of Ward Avenue and back.  12 miles.

This is the end of the haul road.  Beautiful ride.

Here's a lunch break during a Friday "20 miles on the 10 Mile" ride.

Sometimes we ride old logging roads.  Here we are ensconsed with-in a single redwood stump!!

One of our longer rides to Comptche, starting in Mendocino.

We have fun and it is a great group of guys.  We have had ladies join us a couple of times and some promise to return but so far..., nope.

This was a 20 mile loop on a beautiful day.

This was a posed shot for Jim who was actually on vacation in Nicaragua. :-)

If you are in the area and have some time we meet at the Skunk Train Depot Parking lot and leave at 10:00 AM (Sharp)!!

See ya around.

Not Gangnam Style. Craftsman Style.

This morning's theme was, "Looking for Craftsman Style".  Not the whole house, just the trademark porch post.

The right idea but no post!

The right idea but no porch!!

Variations on a theme.

I noticed there are Craftsman Clusters.  Some blocks have quite a few and other locations around town do not.  All defined by how the town grew and expanded over the years.
