I'm back from the Yolla Bolly!!

What an incredible area and only 117 miles from Fort Bragg.

Some people get excited doing peaks. I am happy making it over passes!!

I just finished a seven day, solo, backpacking trip in a Northern California National Wilderness and the only people I saw during my entire trek was mid morning of the last day....

They were thirty thousand feet above me going somewhere fast!

Perfect!

I am now unwinding and putting together a slide show.

Walking and Gawking the Yolla Bolly

I've been thinking about the Yolla Bolly, a wilderness area in the Mendocino National Forest northeast of Covolo, CA. Time to do some backpacking!

I will not be able to blog for a while.

Finally!

Several years ago, during Thanksgiving, 2007, someone went wide at the Redwood to Franklin Street intersection and took out the brand new street light and hydrant. The above photo was in this blog.

The hydrant was replaced rather quickly but the street light...

I'm pleased to now photograph the new replacement finally standing in place!! I don't know exactly when it happened (I'm always out walking and gawking and noticing stuff, right?) but the new lamp is in place!

Strangest Darn Thing!

The Fourth of July weekend festivities are over! The majority of the holiday visitors have returned to their homes and work places after a long weekend of temperatures in the 50's and light drizzle.

So once again, like always (it seems), the Marine Layer receeds and blue skies returns.

Actual shadows becomes possible!!

Coastal living resumes.

Fort Bragg is perfect!

First Friday & Fourth

The Big Hoopla this weekend off to a quiet start as visitors enjoy a cool stroll down Franklin Street.

First Friday Art Walk. Great for walking and gawking. Just follow the pink line laid down by you know who. :-)

I'm told the marine layer will burn off this evening and the show will be spectacular.

Auto dealerships are ready.

Back to the Marine Layer!

Early morning. Looking west down Laurel Street. The city Streetscape project is winding down. Not a whole lot left to do but the markings.

The layout is... laid out!

I think the new blue curb goes nicely with Andrea Luna's paint scheme.

And some folks are ready for the 4th.

There is nothing like a small town barbershop and we have one. With a real barber pole!

The new Aqua center is now in landscaping mode. The Grand Opening getting closer all the time.

I spotted this on a car. All I can say is... "Good Luck"!

Here is something I was going to post a while back but time slipped away. It is a Google Map of the Skunk Train switchbacks near Willits. They are impressive on the map and I am pleased to say Roger and I walked them.
