Missed opportunities

Remember a while back when I talked about the 100 Strangers project?  How it was a good way to meet people and learn to open up a bit.  Well, I flunked two opportunities.  Take this horse for example.  I could have walked to the house and asked the owner the horse's name but no.

And here at the Elger Bay Store I was enjoying an ice cream bar, sitting on the bench in front of the store when this car pulled up, the guy hopped out, went into the store.  His lady friend, wife, S.O., what ever was kicked back with her foot up on the dash.  Did I go over and ask her if I could "document" her foot for my 100 Strangers?  No.  But I thought about it and decided she would probably be weirded out by my request and put her foot down so I shot it on the sly.

Obviously I'm still on the steep part of the learning curve when it comes to documenting strangers.  Too bad too because these would have been good ones.

A new day!

Morning moon through the pines.
(Waning Gibbous)

Morning sun on the maples.

A perfect weekend coming on.
Margaret and I are out of here.  We are going to her beach-side cabin for the weekend.
No internet!  A real vacation!!
Be back Monday.

Green is the Theme.

Chris, who has walked with me on various mornings, invited me to go for a walk with him!  Although a fine Seattle drizzle was falling we did what Seattleites do,
we ignored it.

Chris lives near Carkeek Park,  one of his favorite places to walk, so he lead the way.  I soon noticed things were green!!

Oh look!  There's me!!

A very nice four mile walk in the drizzle through a veritable Rain Forest!  Thanks Chris!

Let's hear it for the little guys!

This morning I focused on the wee ones along my walk.  Half an inch in size, or smaller.

These were pushing the limit, just over half an inch.

These are very tiny.
I know, I know, I'm a lazy blogger.  I should look up their names but hey! I enjoy them anyway.

Blue Monday

My self imposed task for this morning's walk was to photograph Blue.

Oh Boy!  What I call a 2-fer!

Returning home I spotted this wee hole of blue in a gray Monday sky.

Speaking of Blue, see if you can get through this video without laughing!!

A change of Pace!

A couple of Margaret's relatives offered to stay Friday and Saturday night so I was able to take a little time off from care giving duties and go flying with my son Jeff.  He rented a Cessna 152 II and we flew from the Tacoma Narrows airport to the Anacortes airport for dinner!

Pre-flight checks complete, Jeff adds in some throttle.

Rolling rolling rolling, up, up and away.

Bye bye to the two Tacoma Narrows bridges.

North up the Sound.

One hundred miles later, arriving over the Anacortes refinery.

After a 2.4 mile walk from the Anacortes airport to the ferry terminal we discovered that of the three restaurants we had "Googled", one had gone out of business, one was still closed for the season but fortunately the third one, a snack bar was still in business.  The sandwiches weren't bad. Soft drinks from the vending machine, a couple small bags of chips and we were good to go!

A 2.4 miles post "dinner" hike back up hill to the airport and we were on our way south.

Swinging over the Anacortes marina.

And past a tanker being pushed up against the refinery dock.

Bye bye San Juans.

Mount Rainier hovering over Seattle.

The Space Needle.

Here we be!  The usual suspects.  Heading home.

The Tacoma Narrows Bridges back in view.  The airport off to the right.
Thanks Jeff.  That was just what the doctor ordered!
