Blog Filler because of Rain

It was raining this morning so here are some photos I took during a walk yesterday afternoon. First, the ubiquitous shopping cart, with cat!!

I have noticed some flowers seem to get a jump on the rest of their "buds". Here is the first Camelia, located behind the "The Fort Building" just north of City Hall.

And I couldn't let this photo opportunity get away.

Ghost Rider

I'm walking south on Franklin this morning and I noticed a bicyclist approaching because of his bright white LED headlight. I managed to whip out my camera in time to capture a fleeting image of the light from the LED but no bike or rider! Cool!

Returning home on Laurel Street I noticed sunlight had arrived on the tops of the clouds to the west but it will be another fifteen minutes or so before it reaches Fort Bragg.

70's DRESS UP?

It was sort of a shock to my system when I walked by this reader-board this morning. "70's DRESS UP" What's up with that? I remember when I was in school we would some times dress up like the 40's but the 70's? E-gad!

By the way, the "Future" I mentioned in my previous post? I should point out, for my out of town readers, the proposed site for the new senior care center is a big empty field right across the street from our hospital's emergency entrance!

Have I discovered the Future

During my wandering I have been thinking about what's next for Fort Bragg. The commercial fishing days are over. The redwood mill has closed. Current hope is for tourist dollars but the way gas prices are going, good luck. During this morning's walk I happened upon this little pink sign at the east end of South Street. I think it may predict Fort Bragg's Future. And, mine!

Improvements

Along with various sidewalks being installed around town there are also a lot of corner curbs being remove and replaced with handicap accessible curbs and warnings. This work is being done at the corner of, as you can see, Fir and Perkins.
This is just across Perkins on the northwest corner of Fir. There are quite a few other places around town where this work is ongoing or being marked up for replacement soon.
This morning was the first time I noticed our local police has web-presence.

Generic Morning

Just another Wednesday morning here on the coast. Aren't we lucky!

This is Virgin Creek heading out to sea north of Fort Bragg.

Yesterday I had to go to San Francisco, to the VA, for a stress test. After ten minutes on the treadmill and fifteen minutes of recovery the doctor pronounce me fit, for an old fart and I am good to go! So, today, I ripped off five miles at 3.4 mph. Life IS good! E-ha!

Good Things

Welcome to Fort Bragg's new Dog Park!
Read about it here.
In various places around town sidewalks are being installed where for years there was nothing but "social trails". This one is on the west side of South Franklin Street between Maple and Madrone.
