Musings and observations.

Since the guy I have been walking with is gone for a week I decided to try something different.  I wanted to see if I could do seven miles this morning.  Six walking and one swimming.  I decided to walk from home to the Haul Road and hike to Virgin Creek.  Retrace my steps and continue on to the V.Star Pool, swim a mile and then go home.  Pre-planning via GMap Pedometer my total walk should be six miles.  In actuality it ended up being 6.2.  My total time to walk, swim, shower was three hours.  6:00 to 9:00.  Not bad.

The reason I did this is because I have been thinking about what I would like to do to mark my 70th birthday.  I have noticed there are one hundred days between January 1st and April 10th.  If I could "do" seven miles a day for one hundred days I would celebrate my seven hundredth mile on my birthday!!

Pretty crazy.  If I missed any days because of a cold or some other reason it would be really hard to "catch up".  Maybe I should just stay home, lay on the couch and watch Planet Earth instead.
Oops!  I don't have a tee vee.  :-)

By the way, work is underway for the Fort Bragg Skate Park!  About time!! The trees are growing along Franklin Street (top photo) and a jogger on the Trestle Bridge during this morning's walk.

  1. I say you go for it, Ron! Maybe on the days you're feeling really great, you can "do" an extra half-mile or so, and "bank" the extra distance in case you have an off day. What a wonderful goal!

  2. You could start now instead of Jan 1. Then you'd have some cushion. I like the idea!
BTW, I liked your first and second pics on this post a LOT!
