Wrong again!!

The Speeder group did show up but they only did a day trip from Willits to Fort Bragg and back.

No weekend camp out like I previously thought.  That must be another group.

Revisiting Otis Johnson Park

 The steps have been refurbished.

 The retaining wall is starting to have a fern forest grow out of it!

What do it mean?

I noticed a newly installed "Iron Ranger" beside the Haul Road!  

User fee?  Pot Hole Fund?  I'm sure it is gonna mean money one way or another.

Meanwhile.......,

I am happy to see the "Speeder People" back in town.  This group arrived a few days early to get things ready and put up signage for their upcoming weekend camp out. 

I'm told about thirty Speeders will be in town from all over the country.

Keep an eye out for them.  They are cool!!

Initial Findings

 Lolli and I have returned home to Fort Bragg after taking care of Lolli's mother, Margaret, in Shoreline,Seattle.  Either Lolli or I have been with Margaret for the pass three and a half years, the final three months with Hospice Care.  Margaret passed away March 24th, at home, after a long decline.  She was 96 years old.

So, now I'm back and for the first time in a long time, I set off on my early morning walk to see "whatz sup" with Fort Bragg.  The first thing I noticed was one of the Hawthorne trees along Franklin Street has started to bloom.  In fact, I understand this bloom arrived right around April 1st.  Quite nice!!

 I see the skateboard park is finished.

 Another view of the skateboard park with the V. Starr Center in the background.  I did stop in the V.Starr Center for a sad but hopeful look at the closed and covered lap pool.  Well done, Fort Bragg for voting to get the pools operating again.

Swinging through Otis Johnson Park I see the old steps are being replaced and it looks like this project is almost finished.

By the way, did anybody notice last night's full moon.  Startled me!!  So, unexpected and boom, there it was!

Amazing EMP Building

 Lolli and I took an afternoon off and visited the EMP building at the Seattle Center.  I have seen this building from afar but this was the first time I had a close look.  Most amazing!

Wikipedia says, "The EMP Museum (formerly known as Experience Music Project and Science Fiction Museum and Hall of Fame or EMP|SFM) is a museum dedicated to the history and exploration of both popular music and science fiction located in Seattle, Washington. The Frank Gehry-designed museum building is located on the campus of the Seattle Center, adjacent to the Space Needle and the Seattle Center Monorail, which runs through the building."

Riding and Geocaching the Chehalis Western

Ed and I filled in the missing seven mile portion of our Chehalis Western Rail/Trail ride.  Previously we had ridden the northern section and the southern section.  (Above is the whole trail.)

An overcast day that deteriorated into rain for our return to our starting point.

Ed found another one.  Three Geocaches found this trip.

I must remember, it is the rain that keeps Washington green.

Great day for a bike ride!

A sunny Friday, February 2nd (in Seattle).  How weird is that!!

Cousin Chris and I take advantage of this fine day for a bike ride.  South from Shoreline on the Interurban to Fremont.

This is a bike theme fence enclosing a community garden.

And a very nice park celebrating the history of the Interurban.

In Fremont we switched to the Burke Gilman trail alongside Lake Union.

We are not the only ones taking advantage of this unique day.

We stop for fish and chips at Ivar's Acres of Clams Lake Union before selecting our route north to Kenmore.  There are a lot of bike friendly routes in the Seattle area.

A beautiful ride alongside the University of Washington.  The temperature up into the low 50's!

There are two levels of trail in this area.  Probably because there once was a railroad spur or siding.

Some of the buildings along the Burke Gilman have gotten into a bicycling theme.  This one is next to the refurbished section of the Burke Gilman.  There are about five miles of trail that is currently closed and being refurbished.  We were re-routed onto surface streets by following "BG Detour" signs.

After 20 miles of riding we arrived at the bus stop near Lake Forest Park, paid $2.25 each, loaded our bikes into the rack and enjoyed the ride up the hill to the Aurora Transit Station near the Interurban Trail where we started!
