Onward towards the light

I'm wishing all my blogging friends a great New Decade and thanks for keeping track of me.

This coming year I want to keep walking and gawking, increase my laps swimming, start writing Haiku (again), do more sketching, get in some great backpacking trips when the days start getting longer and "zen" my possessions!

Meanwhile, the cat's back on the lightbox at Mendo Litho.
Excellent!

Walking Dublin

I'm visiting my sister and brother-in-law who live in the hills above Dublin, CA.
Of course I had to do my early morning walk.

Quite a morning for walking and gawking!

Found history (an aside)

I was sorting and tossing a bunch of my stuff and found a sketch book containing an assignment from back in the days I went to a commercial art school in Seattle, circa 70's.  It was during my first marriage and we had two small children.  I was commuting from Puyallup to Seattle, back and forth.  I had totally forgotten about this "Storyboard" assignment and was quite pleased and tickled to rediscover my ol' creative self.

Cool!
This was so pre-blog it is unbelievable!

Well, I guess that was that!

Swimming Fort Bragg?

This morning I included some lap swimming in my walk!!  What a beautiful facility and almost nobody there at this time of morning.  Maybe it is a madhouse in the afternoon after school but at 6:30AM it is quiet and beautiful.  Brand new lockers, showers, everything.  There was even a bathroom scale near the showers.  It read 160 when I got on it.  Opps!  Either it is ten pounds light or mine is ten pounds heavy!!  Hmmm.

Anyway, I slipped into the lap pool and ripped off four laps!  Humble beginning I know but hey, I was afraid I wouldn't be able to do even one lap before I started.  I'm pretty pleased with myself. The "crawl" came back just like riding a bicycle!  I didn't do much, I wanted to ease into it but I think I did just enough for my first go. Sitting here writing this blog I feel it in my shoulders. Like I told the receptionist when I walked out the door. "I'll be back!"

Frosty morning walk and gawk.

Frost pattern on a windshield.

I worry about geese armpits on mornings like this.
